the hashigo record release show was tonight. here's the good news:
dodo played a fantastic set.
ii also played a fantastic set.
hashigo survived our set.
our two new releases were released. every copy we had on hand with us got bought.
thanks a lot to everybody! to everyone who came to listen, to the venue, and to dodo and ii.
above, some photos from the show. click to enlarge.
first, the sign outside the venue. the place is called "ongaku no jikan", and every time we play there, we like it more.
second, the hallway on the way down the stair to the venue. the green and yellow thing is a hashigo flier.
third the door. another hashigo flier.
fourth, the blackboard (!) above the stage. the owner went balls out on chalk art for us.
so, some photos from before the show started.
hashigo warming up. photo by ayako uchida.
hashigo sitting around.
dodo standing around.

in the first photo, shiranui's face is blurry.
in the second, ayako's a little blurry.
the third is from the back of the room.
dodo is Ayako Uchida & Iori Shiranui. when we advertised this show, this is what we wrote about them: "Female-male vocals, disarming simplicity, lovely chemistry. We're tight with dodo from way back --- Dale and Iori even once wrote a song together, which is going to be on the new hashigo CD, complete with dodo harmonies."
their show today was as great as we'd hoped. we strongly recommend you see them live and buy their CD. their site is here.
the first photo is from when they were still warming up. n.b. cold mask.
second, also warming up. this is ii.
here's what we wrote about ii (née Haruka Iijima) before the show: "Female piano singer-songwriter, unique and delicate. Songs that bleed subtle emotion. This will be our first show together. We're excited."
today, ii played with natsumi hirasawa also on vocals. their voices blend and complement each other quite naturally, often interweaving counter-melodies. this is another artist we highly recommend. her site is here, and her Soundcloud is here (songs streaming).
sunayama-bancho was up all night finishing the CD jackets above. cute, huh? the titles are "hiru" (day) and "yoru" (night). four songs each. probably our best yet, at the very least in terms of recording quality.
